Daybreak

March 24, 2014

I hate mornings. Just a simple fact. I could sleep to noon every day if I was allowed to.
To express this dislike of mornings and everything that comes with them I wrote this poem:

a break in the back of humanity,
Pulling our restless souls
Into the thin morning air
Like the moment your older brother
Pushed your fragile ten year old body
Into the cold chemical water at the community pool.
No.
Much worse than that.
It’s light breaks through curtains
And brick walls built by my imaginary friends.
Tears down the warm darkness surrounding us
And destroys the bundle of clouds wrapped
Around our peaceful breathing.
A break in the back of humanity,
Cracks the whip above our heads
Yelling to get out of bed,
Before our bosses
Principals
Headmasters
Realize we are not
There.

Plus I’m evil in the morning…
Just needed to add that. So in truth I act like this:
